Welcome to the Spine and Pain Center of San Antonio
Pain Management is extremely common in medical practices today. Studies have shown that nearly one in five adults suffer from acute & chronic pain. People in pain reported that they were often unable to sleep, were less effective at work, and their relationships with friends and family suffered. Many have undergone a variety of drug therapies or major surgery without relief. Pain Management Physicians treat a variety of painful conditions with multiple treatment modalities and procedures. Pain Management Physicians have a wealth of knowledge to determine the cause of various painful conditions, utilize the latest and most effective treatment regimens, and are skilled in multiple Interventional Pain Medicine procedures and some minor surgeries.
Pain Management Physicians treat a whole gambit of painful conditions, from head to toe. Some more common conditions include: Back pain, Neck pain, Bulging disc, Arthritis, Nerve pain, Sciatica, Headaches, Muscle spasms, Post surgical pain, Acute or Chronic painful conditions, and many others. Pain Management Physicians also work closely with other physicians/surgeons and non-physicians (physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychologists, nurses, pharmacists) in order to take a multidisciplinary approach to treating patients with pain. There has been a vast amount of research performed to provide the most advanced and selective treatments for our patients with various painful conditions.
In most acute painful conditions the primary doctor or surgeon will be able to control the pain effectively while the patient is healing and the pain will resolve in a short period of time. If the pain is not controlled effectively or persists after the healing process should be complete, then scheduling a consultation with one of our Board Certified Pain Management Physicians is warranted. If there is a condition which would benefit from targeted therapy or injections (such as a herniated, bulging disc, compression fracture, etc.), then Pain Management treatment would be necessary. If your current pain therapy is no longer effective or you are dealing with chronic pain, the services of a Pain Management Physician would also be beneficial.
The Spine and Pain Center of San Antonio is one of a handful of Pain Management Clinics across the nation, and the first in the San Antonio area to offer unique and revolutionary pain management treatment options to our patients. Our Board Certified Physicians have over 40 years of combined pain management experience, are fellowship trained by ACGME Pain Management programs and are active members of many Pain Medicine organizations.
